Emergency Aircrew Response Challenge

Help STRIKEWERX improve the Command Post communication path to aircrews!

VIRTUAL CHALLENGE DEFINITION WORKSHOP

AUGUST 18-20, 2020

WE NEED YOUR INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS!

STRIKEWERX, an innovation hub that connects people and resources across government, industry, and academia to solve Air Force Global Strike Command's (AFGSC) most challenging problems, is looking to help AFGSC expand its capabilities. The goal of this challenge is to provide a seamless alerting system for ground and aircrew of potential threats, thereby improving the Command Post communications pathways. To effectively manage the United States Strategic Command aircrews, Command and Control requires the ability to move personnel from locations on installations to and from the aircraft into various areas with little or no warning. They also need to contact crews inside the aircraft when the engines are running or powered down.

This challenge aims to develop a new aircrew alerting system to potentially become a standardized solution for different mission areas. We are seeking solutions to help make alerting aircrew as simple and easy as a phone call while maintaining a reliable, no-fail security system. The focus is also on integrating three distinct aspects of alerting: klaxons (warning siren), personal alerting device, and line of sight communications. Capabilities needed also include the ability to contact aircrew members anytime, anywhere via text and voice without interruption.

What's in it for you?

USAF and AFWERX possess innovation funding to designate towards exploring viable solutions and partnerships to further strengthen the Air Force. USAF has prototype funding available for individuals or companies who propose solutions to this specific challenge. Expert evaluators will carefully examine compelling challenge solutions presented within this crowdsourcing platform, and the best solutions could lead to additional prototyping, R&D and production contracts to be granted after the initial award. Your participation could lead to official recognition for you or your company and the chance to work alongside the Air Force and other DoD agencies to see your concept mature into impactful real-life implementation!
