USAF Pilot Training and Development
Help us enhance current pilot training courses and develop an improved Fighter Training Unit (FTU) that will better prepare pilots to be mission-qualified.
CHALLENGE DEFINITION WORKSHOP MARCH 2020
WE NEED YOUR INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS!
USAF's current pilot training program is experiencing a widening gap between the capabilities of its primary training aircraft and that of the advanced fighter aircraft its pilots currently operate. This challenge seeks to address this gap. We are looking for solutions to enhance present training courses, develop an improved Fighter Training Unit (FTU) that will better prepare pilots to be mission-qualified in a shorter time frame and increase the retention rate of fully trained pilots. Perhaps artificial intelligence and virtual reality can play a role in enhancing existing training methods. Here's a chance to offer up your unique solutions to ensure our pilots are trained as efficiently and effectively as possible!
What's in it for you?
USAF and AFWERX possess innovation funding to designate towards exploring viable solutions and partnerships to further strengthen the Air Force. USAF has allocated up to $250,000 in prototype funding for individuals or companies who propose solutions to this specific challenge. Expert evaluators will carefully examine compelling challenge solutions presented within this crowdsourcing platform, and the best solutions could lead to additional prototyping, R&D and production contracts to be granted after the initial award.
For example, the Mixed Reality AFWERX Challenge had an initial award budget of $150,000. To date, an additional $4M of prototype funding has been awarded to six companies, with an existing production contract still an open opportunity for some or all of those companies. We encourage you to get involved. Your participation could lead to official recognition for you or your company and the chance to work alongside the Air Force and other DoD agencies to see your concept mature into impactful real-life implementation!
